BACK AT IT!

YEAR 2 at GCA.

SOME SOME SUMMER on the HUDSON!

The Hudson River School Fellowship!
This is an opportunity unlike anything I have ever experienced.  For one full month I was shacked up with talented painters from all over the world for full-time Landscape painting and drawing.
I and others from GCA
 had never Landscape painted.. EVER!

This is what I managed to come up with

Landscape painting is really hard!
I will keep updating on this new found interest!  I hope next year has a more impressive collection.

Grand Central Academy 1st Year

I am currently a student at The Grand Central Academy.  GCA teaches their students to sculpt using the pencil.  The topic of form had never been introduced to me in this way.  It was exciting information.  I think you will notice that my work is looking more sculptural as I study here.

I finished 4 plaster cast drawings

The Boston Year

Below are Charles Bargue Master Copies done at Academy of Realist Art Boston

Level 2-  Young Girl Life Cast
8x10"

Level 3- Marcus Brutus
10 x 14"

Level 4- Belvedere Torso
18 x 24"

We also worked from the Figure 2 days a week.  This was my first time working from a Live model for more than Three hours at a time.

At ARA we used carbon pencil in order to have a fuller range of value.  It can have beautiful results, but a difficult medium to get used to.
